it's been the longest entry drought.

what are the biggest things lately in hk ?
1) edison's leaked pictures scandal 2) death of fei fei
and these incidents inspired me to make few statements here

- People these days have serious problem, ethically and logically.
- Media in HK are worse than I thought. I look down on them and I am embarrassed to have Appledaily as the best selling newspaper.
- How ? and why is our ethical standard determine by a newspaper and few magazines. don't people think ?
- Those who think edison should take all the responsibility have no idea of what they are saying.

Akter Salam (11) &
  Chiwulele Gabriel Simiao (9)

my sponsored children.

Monday, May 28, 2007

I last updated a month and half ago.
Since now on, my xanga will only update on special occasion.

3 things in this update –

1)    I won a tennis match on Sat night by coming back from 2-5  15-40 and 4-5 0-40, saved 6 match points and fought my way to victory at 7-5.

2)    I’m sponsoring 2 children via the world vision. Information of my sponsored children will come in few weeks and I am excited. It is one of the few things that I put my words into action.

3)    Just now I watched a national geographic documentary on north korea. The crew pretended to be filming a medical trip of an Asian doctor, but in fact the theme was North Korea itself. As much as I’ve heard about NK, I’ve never really seen what it’s like there. One thing that worth mentioning is the enormous propaganda and brainwashing people experience in the country.     The doctors healed one thousands patients who had eye sickness. Many of them had gone blind for years. Patients were gathered in a room waiting to remove the Band-Aid and regaining their sights after surgeries. So they removed their bandaid, first thing that they did, is to pray to Kim Jong II and thank him for giving the opportunity. Many of them even said the only reason for them to regain sight is to see the great leader’s image for one last time. They praised and cried in the room. I wonder if they really did feel that way or just acted it becoz they knew they were being watched.

I am planning on my trip to US from the weekend of May5th till May20th for my good friends' graduation. 'vent seen many of them for almost 2 years, but it certainly doesnt feel that long. To fund my trip, i'm planning to buy 3 bottles of fine wine from US, where taxes on alcohol are extremely low. the 3 bottles are, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Haut-Brion, and Chateau Latour all from 2002. These are 3 of the 5 first-growth wine from bordeaxu and definitely on the list of the World most seek after wine.

HKD1.5k of earning is expected for each bottle, so earning from 3 bottles probaby makes up 80% of my ticket. All these, ofcoz, is under the condition / assumption in which I dun get caught by the Customs.

Story 1 - Casa Nostra, an italian cuisine located on Caine Road, Central, Hong Kong.

Don't go there!

Couple weeks ago i found myself a great desire of getting italian food. I was in search for great italian cuisine around central area.... i thought there'd be plenty of choices, but no. Gaia and Baci were the options before reality kicked in and realized my $$ was running low. So a friend of mine suggested this Casa Nostra on Caine Road. This friend has been known for her unreliable suggestion on food places, but well, as a nice friend, i had given her a last shot.

I have to admit it that the decoration is cozy, warm, and modern. Straightly from its appearance i'd expect an above-average dinner. We brought along 2 bottles of wines. One of them is my Connectable Talbot 96, and an American Zinfandel 2002. Cockage fee was HK$175, pretty expensive, but it's at par for fine restaurant.

We requested to open the first bottle, which was my Talbot 96. The waiter came with this traditional wine opener and started screwing the cock. Funny thing is, the opener was turning but not screwing. It just kept grinding on top of the cock and it started breaking a hole. He didnt realize for the first like 10seconds. Then he screwed in, removed the cork, but the tiny broken pieces of cork were all over the rim of the wine bottle. He didnt bother removing them and poured me the wine. there were broken corks all over my glasses. I was disappointed, not yet furious.

So the food came. The quality does match up with the price, that is, low. I remember i ordered a seafood alfredo and only ate 10% of it. We opened another bottle of wine, another waiter came, he started cutting the aluminum lid and didnt realize he was cutting the bottle neck instead of the tip. and he wondered why it cant be removed. It's nothing about how to open a wine, it's just simply dumb.

I was getting a bit impatient then but hasnt got on my nerves. didnt bother spending time bargaining for discount or free dessert or anything, just left. Maybe i should have. Please advice me some places if you know any.

Story 2 - Had tea w/ my closest friends at dan ryan's today and they (4 girls all together) decided to go shopping. Hm, luckly first stop was PageOne and I bought myself a book, A Good Year, to entertain me along the never ending journey. By the time we are all finished, i've finished one chapter plus a few pages.
